Cold winter months are right around the corner, soon to be knocking on our doors. Well, if you ask me, some cold mornings feel like winter is already here!

That is why I am already preparing to secure my health before I accidentally catch a cold. I hate constantly lying in bed, because I like to be active and focused when I do my work. Which is why I always prioritize the health of my immune system – I prefer preventive approach to taking care of my health over a curative one. By keeping my immune system resilient, I’m making sure that I don’t have to panic in the event of a cold or similar inconvenience – I simply continue to take care of my health and leave the rest to my immune system. If I’m always one step ahead of a cold, I don’t have to worry about anything at all!

I’ve put together a list of my favourite ways to keep my immune system healthy, so you can try them out as well!

1. Ginger, Lemon and Honey

In my kitchen, I like to create a variety of delicious recipes, from ingredients that I always have on hand – the more homemade my creation, the more I love it!

This time I mixed together lemon juice, finely grated ginger (which I simply adore) and honey (it will add to taste). That’s all – just three ingredients that make sure I don’t run out of energy even during the most monotonous days. And just about every ingredient plays an important role in maintaining the immune system.

I keep the mixture in a glass jar on the bottom shelf of the fridge, where there are a lot of other magic delicacies that I use to take care of my health (I have another one up my sleeve, by the way!) – I treat myself to two small spoons every day, although I am often tempted by the intoxicating smell. and I wish for a third.

2. Orange, Apple, Lemon, Ginger and Honey

When preparing the first mixture, save some grated ginger and lemon juice – if you add grated and stewed apples and pieces of oranges, you can create a new, completely different potion!

Be sure to add honey to taste here as well and sweeten the already delicious porridge – if you serve it to someone, you can also decorate it with thin slices of apples or candied orange peel! When enjoying this delicious potion, I follow the advice “two teaspoons a day,” but one or two more certainly doesn’t hurt.

You can also prepare a larger supply of the mixture just for yourself or for your family – keep it in a glass jar in the fridge until it runs out.

3. Vitamin D

The intake of vitamin D is just as important for strengthening the immune system. The vitamin can of course be found in many foods, such as eggs, liver, various sea fish and the like. But this is definitely not a sufficient amount of this vitamin, so visiting nature is all the more important.

I go out on my own every day, even if only for a few minutes. Clean air has a good effect on my well-being and clears my brain, and the sun’s rays fill me with vitamin D during the walk. I also like to spend cycling or running and thus maintain my health through exercise.

However, because I don’t see the sun too often in the colder months, I sometimes take a vitamin D supplement to help keep my immune system healthy even in winter.

4. Connection with Nature

And, last but not least, I think it is important to emphasize human connection to our planet. No matter what, I will always believe in the power of the energy that connects living beings to the nature that surrounds them – after all, this is what rotates the Earth on its axis.

Coexistence and harmony are something I strive for every day of my life. Visiting nature is my favourite part of everyday life, as it fills me with energy and hope that we are heading in the right direction together. I believe in a healthy mindset, a healthy body.
