As a company, we have a long tradition of gifting – to customers, industry colleagues, conference attendees, each other, family, friends, etc. And not only do we like to give gifts, we like to give good gifts. For us, the details are important. From our first interactions with customers, to our research experience and development work, to the newsletters we write and the gifts we give away.

Because we have so much experience with gift giving, we’ve put together a list of tips to help your business gifts stand out in the sea of other gifts. So how do you give a gift that someone will actually use and not throw away or forget about?

1. Share your work culture

What is something unique about your business that is fun to share with others? It can reflect the work you do or the culture of the people who do that work. In the development world, “casual Friday” is generally an everyday affair, providing a great opportunity to share your work culture through promotional and business gifts.

One of the most popular gifts are definitely T-shirts with a print (most often of the company logo). Although T-shirts or other pieces of clothing do not represent extremely innovative gifts, they are nevertheless extremely important for creating a team spirit that we share with others.

2. Don’t forget about the presentation

What is a gift without wrapping paper? Okay, it’s still a gift, but don’t underestimate the impact of looks – think about the experience of those who will receive your gift. A beautiful box, colored paper, a handwritten message … Attention to detail is what can turn joy into excitement.

Aas a company, we often put together top-quality gift packages as one of the ways to establish our brand. When creating the package, we think about the gift recipient’s experience – when someone opens the box, they pick up a personalized product for the first time, which tells a story and invites them to work with us. The product itself is also accompanied by a few small gifts with a personal message. We are convinced that every recipient does not think this deeply about our gifts, but merely rejoices in them, but we are nevertheless aware of the importance of such details.

3. Choose local products

Support local businesses and represent your city or country by sending “homegrown” products. This is a great gift for people who live far away, as well as for people in your region, as you are celebrating your homeland together.

We also like to support our local suppliers, and above all we are committed to those providers who contribute to the development and preservation of our natural and cultural heritage with their products. As much as we can, we try to support local companies and represent our pride in living in our beautiful Slovenia. And, as if by chance, such gifts are most enjoyed by our foreign colleagues, who introduce our country to their companies.

4. Quality should come first

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. It’s okay to give a gift that has existed before – at the same time, such products give you the opportunity to stand out with better quality. If you’re not sure what makes one gift better than another, ask someone who may be a little more specific about their preferences and has an objectively good taste.

If you don’t have the time or energy to look for quality products, thankfully there are companies that have worked hard to come up with an offer of high quality gifts that can be personalized with a brand. We are one of them.

5. Don’t overdo it with personalization

Although personalization is one of the most important parts of business and promotional gifts, try to refrain from doing too much. Your logo or company name should not be a huge size, no matter what product you are giving out (unless you have a good reason or a large customer base with brand loyalty). I’m not saying you should completely avoid personalization – not at all. But still think about the fact that your product will be used by the gift recipients in public; if you have chosen a product that makes a lasting impression, personalization is just an added bonus – potential customers will remember you for the gift itself.

There are many products – cups, shirts, notebooks – where you can use only the most recognizable part of the logo instead of the whole thing. Such a part of the logo looks nice as an independent design element, and at the same time it can also stimulate a conversation about the brand itself.

6. Be environmentally friendly

Last but not least, I want to put an emphasis on caring for the environment. I don’t know about you, but I myself feel uncomfortable and conflicted when I want to throw something away while silencing my subconscious that wonders if what I’m doing is bad for the environment. That is why I am even more enthusiastic about environmentally friendly gifts that do not harm him during production or when they meet their end.

We do not want to burden others with gifts, especially the environment in which we live. In addition, gifts made from environmentally friendly materials or produced in the same way can create a negative connection with your brand. Concern for the environment should therefore be ranked high on your list of promotional and business gift features that you want to give to your customers, employees and business partners.
