Achieving our goals is rarely easy, which is why it is important to know how to maintain our motivation in stressful and overburdened situations – this is the only way we can achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. However, because we live in a world with more disruptions than ever before – from uninterrupted access to the Internet to constant online messaging – it is much harder to stay focused, productive and do our job in a way that is expected of us.

I often deal with the loss of motivation myself, be it in the field of career, health, or even hobbies. And I’m definitely worried that I’m not productive enough – I don’t want to regret my Sunday in a few years and ask myself, “What if…?” Which, of course, is perfectly normal, as each of us is afraid that we won’t be able to achieve things that are important to us, or that laziness will simply prevent us from following our dreams. This only confirms the importance of motivation in all parts of our lives – so, how do we achieve motivation and prevent losing it?

Make Sure It’s Really Your Goals You’re Working Towards

One of the biggest challenges in staying motivated and pursuing your goals is ensuring that you really want to achieve them. Sometimes our goals are based on what we think we should do; we base them on the expectations of society, friends, and very often family. To avoid problems with productivity and focus in the future, you need to make sure you’re doing what you really want to do, and what makes you happy – a strong passion for work can make everything much easier.

Visualize Your Desired Results

Your biggest strength is your mind – it helps you visualise not only the end results, but also all the steps leading up to them. With the right mindset, you will have no problem performing even the most difficult tasks that lead to your goals. So, all you have to do is imagine your trials and triumphs, and then connect them to the feeling of relief and complete excitement you will feel once you succeed – this is what will motivate you to drive your business or personal goals with enthusiasm and success.

Divide Your Main Goal into Several Smaller Ones

Before setting impossible goals for yourself, such as making a million sales your first year of doing business, make the goals easier to achieve. Instead of burdening yourself with nearly impossible-to-achieve goals, divide them into smaller ones, or steps, rather, that will help you climb to the top. The reason why this is crucial is that the fear of failure often makes us lose motivation. But if you’re constantly ticking off multiple smaller goals, it’s much easier to envision a plan on how to achieve your ultimate goal.

Surround Yourself with Positivity

Whether or not you want to admit it, we’re constantly influenced by the people who surround us, and their energy can determine how successful we become. Think about it like this – if we are surrounded by people who are willing to encourage us and offer us help when we need it, then it’ll be much easier for us to stay motivated when the going gets hard. Lacking motivation can deter our plans, which is why a positive attitude is absolutely necessary when trying to achieve our goals.

Stay Organized and on Top of Your Game

It is also extremely important to know how to make your workday as productive as possible. If you write down all the tasks you need to do on a certain day and put them in an order of importance, you have a better chance of completing all your tasks much faster than usual. By planning ahead, you also avoid the unnecessary stress of being overwhelmed by the number of tasks that await you – with a planner, you can be sure that you are doing everything you need to and that you have not forgotten anything.

Don’t burden yourself with what you can’t control

The best advice I’ve ever received is to take control of everything I can, and to not burden myself with what I have no control over. Simply put – it’s unproductive to worry about things we can’t control. Rather, it’s better to focus on the things that are within your reach and make sure we excel at them. You will soon realise that motivation comes mainly from things we can influence ourselves – so forget about everything else, and focus on what you can control.

Remember Why You Want to Achieve Your Goals

When it comes to staying motivated, the most important advice I can give you has to do with no one else but yourself – if you don’t know why you started your journey in the first place, it’s nearly impossible to keep your motivation to keep going intact. To ensure you keep up with everyone else, think about what inspired you – was it personal satisfaction? Helping others? Being able to pay off your loans? Whatever the reason, it’s what got you here in the first place, and it should be why you actively decide to continue your journey.

Everyone faces procrastination and lack of motivation, no matter what we do to keep our spirits up, which is why you sometimes need to think outside of the box before taking a step forward.
